Upcoming PC app
Posted by mirsadm in Upcoming Features on November 8, 2011
The upcoming update will be pretty big. Changes include
- Proper support for non-English characters. Syncing all folders/files should work now.
- Fix for an issue which causes files not to get synced if certain folders are added.
- Windows Media Player library support (only tested on v12)
- Ability to forget paired devices
- Ability to configure iTunes library location
- Background loading of music libraries. Application starts up much quicker now.
Windows Media Player support

I should be able to add Windows Media Player support for the next release. Microsoft does not make it easy to get access to the data but it is possible. I have it reading playlists and tracks at the moment. I would have never thought that iTunes support would have been much easier to add.
Battery drain update
I’ll be releasing a quick update in the next few days to fix the issue the app not stopping after it can’t find a PC and draining the battery. It is really annoying so sorry about that! For now you can stop the syncing process by clicking the spinning green button.
Beta PC app

I have uploaded a beta version of the PC app here:
http://c777703.r3.cf2.rackcdn.com/setup_beta.exe
It fixes some small issues with devices being listed twice and adds a notification when syncing with a device. In addition, the monitor window shows what IP address the application is using to listen on. This might help people with connectivity issues.
App syncing

I’ve been looking into introducing the ability to sync your application data to your PC for people with rooted phones. I think that’d be a pretty cool feature to have.
While investigating that I have written a new app to allow you to share application data between devices by bumping them (using the tech from ‘Bump’). I think its pretty awesome since lots of people have multiple devices these days. You can use it to continue your games on your multiple devices very easily.
If you’re brave enough to try out the beta version you can find it here:
Update on market
I have updated both the free and paid apps on the market. This fixes the remaining bigger issues people have been experiencing.
Changes include:
28/10 * Fixed app blocking when syncing on unknown network * Added more info when pairing (shows discovered IP address) * Added progress information while sending files
Setup guide + Update coming today
I have posted a quick setup guide for the PC app. You can read it here:

In addition, I will be updating the Android app and PC app today to include some extra diagnostic information for people having pairing issues. I’ll post it up here when they are ready!
